STATE OF MEDICAL TRAINING IN NIGERIA
Throughout the world, medical training is a well-articulated program phased into entry-level (undergraduate), postgraduate and continuing medical education.
Although these trainings have the goal of producing good-quality physicians, there are differences in the prerequisites, length and curriculum for each of these phases.
This conference will look at the current peculiar state of the training in Nigeria
Also, while it is obvious that we have a worsening doctor shortage situation in Nigeria and with many specialties facing significant gaps, there is need to look at the issues faced by doctors and the solutions available to ensure medicine remains an appealing choice of career.
Ace Medicare Clinics Limited and DokiLink are conducting a study of the State of Medical Training in Nigeria.
Primary objective:

  • To understand perceptions of the quality of medical training received by medical students and doctors in Nigeria.

Secondary objective(s):

  • To identify gaps in the current curriculum
  • To understand the key issues facing students during their training

The initial findings from this study will be discussed at the conference.
